Internet Radio Alarm Clock, Built-In WiFi from Aluratek

Monday, February 16, 2009 9:37 AM

You can easily be misled by the Aluratek Internet Radio Alarm Clock's dowdy, low-tech design. It's easy to dismiss one of those cheap, gray market Knockoffs are often found in medical equipment stores. But the beauty of this feature laden radio lives beneath the skin. Yes, it is an alarm clock. Yes, it's an FM tuner. And yes, it is true that creative moniker is also internet radio with access to over 11,000 channels worldwide. But as night infomercials (the average rate you can expect to see this on the radio advertising) we have to say: "But wait, there's more."

Aluratek take the future that includes a connection to a PC media player and the 3.5mm jack suitable for most MP3 players. In addition there is even a USB port on the front panel lets you listen to tracks stored on a USB 2.0 flash drive.

Setup is about the same complexity as turning on the light switch. Power on the radio and a WiFi network is available to appear in the 3-in-1, 5-inch LED display on the front panel. I ask also the use of off-remote control moves to the one you want. Back up, this network will connect automatically. There is also an ethernet port for optional connection cable.

Although there are navigation buttons at the top of the vital radio Snooze button, the remote control all radio functions. Choose from over 11,000 online radio stations is a child, but a little more help to the reduction by categories such as the location of the city and state, gender, popularity, and so on. Click the remote heart and saved favorites for easy retrieval. Of course, with hundreds of people in each genre (most with arcane, unhelpful names) it can take some digging to find what you want. That does not really chilling, mind you, find some cool in South Korea and the countries suddenly the music channel in the Czech Republic and Sweden.

Music smoothly without hiccups or static, even apart from the WiFi network. When inserted into the USB memory drive loaded with MP3 tracks the four-line LED screen is immediately a list of files and directories, each accessible by moving the remote. Playing music loaded on your PC need Windows Media Player 11 and some of the settings to allow sharing the music with the clock radio.

Fortunately, you can add external speakers to the Aluratek because what comes from the 2-watt integrated speaker sounds - surprise - the room one day of radio. However, the possibility of creating a broad Aluratek Internet radio alarm worth considering, especially if you want to travel the world without leaving home.

Hours, Wired full features add powerful radio Wi-Fi or ethernet connected to the radio and Internet access to PC music, MP3 player and USB memory drive library. Access to all the features of well designed and much better-lit 4-line LED display panel.

Small tired 2-watt speakers with narrow range of sounds crappy. Although far from moving through the menu easily, TROLLING through more than 11,000 Internet stations can be boring after a while.
